Laser Tattoo Removal in Coventry

I offer a free consultation and patch test, which is needed to assess your existing tattoo and to talk through in detail how the process works and what to expect.

Say goodbye to unwanted ink with laser tattoo removal, which targets the ink precisely, whether you want it lightened or removed. Sessions are quick, discomfort is kept to a minimum and there is little downtime, so you can get on with your day. Rediscover your confidence as you watch your tattoo fade, and embrace a fresh start.

Tattoo removal is part of my laser clinic in Coventry, which also offers laser hair removal for men and women and carbon peel facials.

Treatments are for clients aged 18 and over, and every new client starts with a consultation.

How Pico Laser Tattoo Removal Works

Tattoo ink sits in the skin as particles too large for your body to clear on its own. A picosecond laser delivers its energy in pulses lasting trillionths of a second, which shatters the ink into much smaller fragments. Over the following weeks your immune system carries those fragments away, and the tattoo fades.

The laser at the clinic is a Q-switched picosecond laser, the technology people mean when they search for a pico laser or a Q-switch laser. Its settings can be changed for each treatment, and the small adjustments I make for different ink colours mean I can get the best results with as little discomfort as possible.

  1. Consultation and patch test

I look at the colours, age and depth of your tattoo, explain how many sessions to expect, and patch test a small area. Both are free.

  2. Treatment

You wear protective eyewear while I pass the laser over the tattoo. Most sessions take minutes, depending on the size of the design.

  3. Healing

The area may look red, raised or slightly frosted for a short time. Keep it clean, let any blistering or scabbing heal on its own, and keep it out of the sun.

  4. Fading

Your body clears the broken-down ink over the following weeks. Sessions are spaced several weeks apart to give your skin time to heal between them.

How Many Tattoo Removal Sessions Will I Need?

Most tattoos need between 5 and 15 sessions, spread over several months to a year. Sessions are spaced several weeks apart to give your skin time to heal and your body time to clear the ink.

How many sessions your tattoo needs depends on:

  • The colours in the design
  • How much ink there is, and how deep it sits
  • Whether it was done professionally or as an amateur tattoo
  • How old the tattoo is
  • Where it is on the body
  • Your skin type

Which Tattoo Colours Can Be Removed?

Most ink colours can be treated. Black ink absorbs the laser's light most readily, so it tends to fade fastest. Blues and greens are usually the most stubborn and need more sessions. I'll look at every colour in your tattoo at your consultation and tell you what to realistically expect.

Semi-permanent eyebrow make-up removal

The same laser can lighten or remove semi-permanent eyebrow make-up, including microblading that has faded to the wrong shade, spread, or no longer suits you. Your eyes are protected throughout, and a patch test comes first, as with any tattoo.

Tattoo Removal or Fading for a Cover-up

Not everyone wants a tattoo gone completely. If you're planning a cover-up, a few sessions to lighten the old design give your tattoo artist a cleaner canvas and more freedom with the new one, and take fewer sessions than full removal.

After each session I'll give you full aftercare advice. In short: keep the area clean, let it heal without picking, and protect it from the sun, using SPF 50 once the skin has healed.

Older or amateur tattoos can leave uneven texture in the skin. Once your removal course is finished, scar treatment can help improve the look of it.

Sessions start from £50, depending on the size of the tattoo, and block booking discounts are available on courses.

Laser Tattoo Removal FAQs

Can a tattoo be completely removed?

Many tattoos can be removed completely, or faded until they are barely visible, but it depends on the ink, the colours and your skin. Some colours, particularly blues and greens, can leave a faint trace. I'll give you an honest view at your free consultation, before you commit to anything.

Does laser tattoo removal hurt?

It is often compared to the feeling of being tattooed, or a rubber band snapping against the skin. Each pulse is very short, sessions are quick, and I adjust the settings to keep discomfort to a minimum.

How many sessions will I need to remove my tattoo?

Most tattoos take between 5 and 15 sessions, spaced several weeks apart, and fading for a cover-up takes fewer. The colours, age, size and depth of the ink all play a part, and I'll estimate your number at your patch test.

What is a pico laser?

A pico laser delivers its energy in picosecond pulses, each a trillionth of a second long. These very short pulses break tattoo ink into finer particles than older lasers, which makes it easier for your body to clear. The laser at The Skinutrition Clinic is a Q-switched picosecond laser.

Can you remove semi-permanent eyebrows or microblading?

Yes. I can lighten or remove semi-permanent eyebrow make-up, including microblading, with your eyes protected throughout. As with any tattoo, a patch test comes first.

Why do I need a patch test?

A patch test shows how your skin and the ink respond to the laser before a full session. It's free, it's done at your consultation, and it means we can set a realistic plan from the start.

How much does laser tattoo removal cost in Coventry?

Sessions start from £50, depending on the size of the tattoo, and block booking a course brings the price per session down. The consultation and patch test are free.
